The Summer of Love is alive and well at ComFest

Columbus, Ohio is a town of many colors. The color this weekend in Goodale park will likely be tie-dye.

For 35 years The Community Fest, better known as ComFest, has showcased music, arts, actvisim and community cohesiveness in a free-wheeling, fun filled weekend of revelry and togetherness.

ComFest or Bust!!

ComFest is guided each year by the following principles:

1. We think that people ought to work for the collective good of all people rather than for personal gain. We support cooperation and collective activity rather than competition and individual profit.

2. The basic necessities of life are a right and not a privilege. People have the collective right to control the conditions of their lives.

3. People should strive to conduct their lives in harmony with the environment.

4. We recognize that there are primary attitudes which divide and oppress people. These attitudes are usually shown by prejudice against people on the basis of age, class, ability, income, race, sex, and sexual preference/ orientation.

5. We seek to eliminate these attitudes.

These principals illustrate the fact that ComFest truly has a purpose and is about much more than beer tents and rock and roll.

How you approach ComFest is up to you. For the diehard, be sure to get there early and stay late. You don’t want to miss anything. For the curious, perhaps a couple hours will give you your fill. Either way, if you are looking for something to do June 22–24, 2007 ComFest is a unique and colorful opportunity.
